"Proust" is a media magazine that provides readers with new experiences and insights based on the theme of 「A stylish and rich way of life that fills the body and soul with "Scent"」. Focusing on the moments when scent stimulates the senses and memory, Proust delivers information that enriches the body and mind together with cultural figures, celebrities, creators, and artists active in various fields such as culture, fashion, beauty, music, art, and lifestyle. We propose a lifestyle with "scent" that is appropriate for the coming age, when people's bodies, minds, and societies will be filled with a sense of fulfillment. The first issue is scheduled to be released in December 2024, and the second issue in February 2025.



●TOPIC (2) Guest comments for the prelimiary first issue

The guests for the preliminary and first issue are BABY MARY, the originator of Harajuku Kawaii and a well-trusted icon among designers from around the world. And Arisa Hazumi, who is active as a marine sustainability planner and model. The preliminary first issue will feature photographer Mamoru Horiguchi, artist Rinne Yoshida, model-talent Yasuyo Saito, and more. We will also invite other guests who are active in various genres.

My all-time favorite scent is CHANEL COCO MADEMOISELLE .

A scent holds memories, becomes an everlasting trace.

I remember COCO as the perfume that Sayuri, who worked at my boutique, FALINE, gave me for my birthday.

The gift of perfume alone was special

I fell in love with CHANEL's perfume for my hair, and since then, I've never been able to forget it. Every time I spray myself with it every morning, I become more sensual.

I can't forget the smell of the perfume of the person I fell in love with or the person I loved, and I get a thrill when something shifts in the air. Sad thoughts and memories come back to us in a flash.

Our five senses remember the scent, and it can make our hearts clench or bring tears to our eyes, and our sense of smell appeals to our hearts in a romantic way.

 

Memories of travel also accompany us with scents. The dry palms of Ibiza Island and the sea breeze of the Mediterranean Sea come to stimulate adrenaline. The subtropical and intoxicating scent of Bali brings you to an exotic foreign land.

Marine Sustainability Planner, Model Tokyo University of Marine Science and Technology, Department of Aquatic Environmental Education.

From childhood, she traveled with her mother, a scuba diver, to many countries around the world and witnessed a variety of marine environments. She found that countries with less education lacked awareness of environmental protection, so she entered Tokyo University of Marine Science and Technology, where she studied the field of aquatic environmental education. Currently involved in various ethical products and active as an environmental project planner and advisor as a marine sustainability planner.



- Comment –

Since I was a child, I have had the opportunity to visit the world's oceans with my mother, a scuba diver, and have seen a wide variety of marine environments.

There, I realized that while there is abundant nature, there are many areas where environmental awareness has not yet fully taken root due to poverty and various other issues, and problems such as garbage and pollution are serious.

Witnessing such a situation, I decided to major in oceanography at Tokyo University of Marine Science and Technology in order to learn more about the ocean and environmental protection and find out what I could do to help.


In my search for ways to bring more people's attention to the ocean and the environment, I found a job as a "marine sustainability planner" and I am currently working as an environmental project planner and advisor.


As an marine sustainability planner, I am responsible for proposing environmental protection and sustainability initiatives for a future where the ocean and people can live together, and for making as many people as possible aware of the importance of such initiatives.

I hope to provide opportunities for people to realize that the richness of our daily lives is supported by the ocean and the natural environment.


The scents that nature releases are filled with the richness of the ocean and the rest of the world.

However, if environmental pollution continues as it is today, will there be any future left for the next generation to enjoy the scents and beauty of nature?

If nature is lost, the scents and richness we cherish may be lost at the same time.


Through "Proust", which is based on the theme of scent, I hope that by developing an awareness of natural scents in our daily lives, we can nurture a desire to care for the environment and find comfort in living in harmony with nature, even if only a little.

I would be happy if we could help create a future rich in nature by bringing you stories told by the sea.

●TOPIC (3) The plan to publish contents in collaboration with scent-related companies. Communicating and expanding the culture of scents

"Proust" will collaborate with companies related to scent in order to communicate scent culture. We will invite scent experts and celebrities to conduct interviews and discussions on themes such as "the history of scent" and "scent and life", introduce the culture and history of scent, and provide content to convey and expand scent culture together with collaborating companies.


●TOPIC (4) Synergy with "Scent Store", a digital scent streaming service. Bringing "scent" lifestyles closer to people.

"Scent Store” is a digital scent streaming service that allows users to enjoy a variety of scents in their rooms using a smart diffuser. Through the contents provided on "Proust", we provide opportunities for people to incorporate scent into their daily lives and to learn about the appeal of a "lifestyle with scent". Through this service, we expect to further increase awareness of Scent Store and the number of users. In addition, users will be able to actually experience scent through the Scent Store. This will make the "fragrant" lifestyle proposed by Proust more accessible and easier to incorporate into daily life.

"Scent Store" will make it easier to experience the scent lifestyle proposed by "Proust", and "Proust" will develop the service with the aim of achieving a synergistic effect that will expand the way people enjoy and use ‘Scent Store’ in their daily lives.
