After working as an assistant to Les Goldberg and other prominent advertising photographers, established Horiguchi Mamoru Photography in Manhattan, New York in 1984. He began his career as an artist with the internationally acclaimed “1/8 of a Moment” series of dancer photographs. Since then, he has established bases in Paris, Milan, Shanghai, and Tokyo. His main focus is fashion photography, but he has also done portraits of Eric Clapton, David Bowie, Cyndi Lauper, and Antonio Inoki, among others. His work has been exhibited both domestically and internationally, and has been permanently preserved in museums around the world. In recent years, he has launched Project Smiling Baby, a non-profit organization, and actively participates in efforts to address global environmental issues through photographs of smiling babies, including support for impoverished areas overseas and areas affected by the Tohoku earthquake.
